Residential Care at the Summit is a General Residential Operation/Residential Treatment Center licensed by the Texas Department of
Health and Human Services. Our program serves children with emotional disorders, ages 7 to 17, and provides for the child’s developmental, emotional, physical, and educational needs.

Cory Bivens, MM
Sonya Brookins is a seasoned Licensed Childcare Administrator and a former residential childcare licensing representative. Using both guidance and leadership, she has an impressive track record of running residential treatment centers that are regulatory compliant, safe, and secure while providing optimal treatment services to youth with
emotional disorders.
A native of Little Rock, Cory Bivens holds a Master of Management degree.
Cory is responsible for our direct care staff and programming. He and his wife, Ellen Marie Bivens, share 8 children and 2 grandchildren. Cory sets the example for others by living out one of his favorite quotes:“With all of the things that you can choose to be, BE KIND.”

Personalized for each child, individual therapy services include a range of options, including EMDR and TF-CBT.
Group therapy has been shown

Children have access to ongoing educational services at the child’s appropriate developmental level via an onsite charter school.
Our 11,000 s.f. facility is
co-located with Trinity Charter School on a secure, gated
6-acre campus.

Outdoor experiential activities allow children to enjoy nature while improving their mental, physical,
and social well-being.
Youth are provided life-skills education such as money management, personal health and safety, and goal-setting.
Providing parents with the tools and techniques best suited for their individual child increases confidence and trust.

Residential care is more than therapy services and counseling. Personal growth also happens in social settings.
We provide supervised, developmentally-appropriate activities (on and off campus) to encourage healthy relationships, social awareness, and confidence-building.
